After working in marketing and PR environments for 21 years, I felt that my writing talents, combined with my psychology and marketing expertise, could be better utilised by establishing myself as a freelance writer. In November 1999, after giving birth to my fourth child, I began working from home, undertaking a wide variety of commercial projects for a broad spectrum of audiences and helping to maximise the potential of many companies and media outlets.
In addition to writing commercial copy, dissertations and lesson plans and editing books, film scripts and website content, I have contributed articles, features and columns to hundreds of magazines, books, newsletters, newspapers and ezines globally and have participated in numerous TV and radio programmes. I particularly enjoy writing humorous observations about life. I am also adept at undertaking research, whether it is for commercial or personal purposes.
I am also the creator of several other websites : Mothers Over 40, an inspirational and encouraging site for older parents, which has become a prime point of contact for the media; Child Suicide, a supportive resource for depressed youngsters and families who have lost a child to suicide and my art website, Aphrodite Art. As a result of the tragic suicide of my eldest son, Kristian, in November 2002, I wrote a book on the impact of child suicide on the surviving families entitled, Chasing Death: Losing a Child to Suicide. Published in October 2009 and updated five times since, the book is now available solely via my website, having taken the decision to remove it from Amazon. I have also written an e-book entitled Enhancing Fertility After Age 40 and have edited dozens of books for other authors. I have written a handful of humorous, books for family and friends only and heavily adapted audio recordings of fairytales for my grandchildren.
